The Name of The Doctor Review

The Name of The Doctor was great or Fantastic! The opening sequence was great I love the bit on Gallifrey and BESSIE!! BESSIE!! 10/10!!!

Just kidding. But this is how to write a fan pleaser episode. Great directing by Saul Metzein. Not sure how to pronounce it. Well how this isn't a video review.

Anyway this was a great episode. Matt Smith, my god Matt Smith that is how to act. Seriously he was great. Clara's reveal was great and so well edited. The plot to this episode I'm not too sure what happened but whilst you're watching it makes sense somehow. What was going on with

Well hopefully that will be explained in the 50th. There is something that annoys about Moffat finales and that is that they have no real pay off. They well close one loose plot thread then open another one. But I have to judge the episode on individual merits. I think the episode is full of genius little things. For example that takes a stroke of genius to come up with the conference meeting. Also the amount of fan nods are greatly done and some how feel sutler than Attack of the Cybermen for example. This episode is great though and I can't think of any issues. Sure you can nitpick like how did the leaf come back or maybe that will be explained.

There are moments which only work when you've seen the series. Like a reward for watching it all. For example when the leaf falls and the Doctor saying this is all you ever were or will be. Now to someone just tuning in the Doctor sounds like an arshole. But to us it means something.

Now I have to talk about Jenny and Vastra. When Jenny died that almost made me cry. That is one of The Best Deaths on Doctor Who. But there is one issue with this. Her coming back to life. It was just handled so easily and kind of killed the moment. But I'll let it go as it lead for a good line from Vastra afterwards. Infact this was the first episode they seem like a couple.

Now let's talk about the Great Intelligence. Richard E Grant was much better than last time but that is not saying much. Also his motive makes no sense. Why does he want to make the Doctor's life a misery? The Whispermen were creepy. But why does Steven Moffat have a thing for invincible creatures? The weeping angels, Whispermen. Apparently he suggested to Neil Gaiman to make the Cybermen be able to upgrade on the spot. The Whispermen though are very creepy and great piece of design.

So overall this was a great episode. I think I'm going to give this episode 10/10 (not just because of bessie). I give it such a high score as there was so much it could of got wrong but it didn't. Also there were minor issues but they didn't lower my enjoyment. The Name of The Doctor was great television with a mix of dark themes great acting and humour which wasn't too forced. Next is the 50th Anniversary. Oh sorry I think I just had a fangasim. Bye.

Nightmare in Silver Review

Nightmare in Silver is by Neil Gaiman. Yes, Neil Gaiman who wrote the amazing The Doctor's Wife. So coming in to this episode I came in at very high hopes. And I had every right to have high hopes. So this episode was amazing. First let's go to the plot.

So the Doctor with two kids and Clara goes to a theme park. Yada yada yada yada and the cybermen are almost in the Doctor. What?!!! Wasn't expecting that. That was amazing. I loved Matt Smith playing Mr Clever. I remember him saying how he would like to play a bond villain and boy does that come out. So it gets to a point where the Doctor and Mr Clever are playing chess. The Doctor ends up cheating. Oh sorry using advantage of the local area and puts gold on the terminator part of his face.

Mega Fan (Me): OMG The Doctor just used gold just like Ace did in...

New Cybermen and Cybermats sorry Mites are introduced and destroyed.

So let's talk about the design and about the new cybermen. Well I love them. Their laser isn't sticking out and they've just scraped completely the cybus industries idea. My only issue is there their speed. I like how they're flexible, it adds a more human feature to them. But don't make them that fast. Why didn't they go super fast at the beginning. Sorry knitpick. But apart from that I love their design and the way they move. They remind me of bacteria always learning how to improve. I think the cybermites are also great and there was one survivor after the explosion...!!!

So let's talk production.

Director, Steven Woolfenden does a great job at showing the amount of the cybermen. Probably the only reason why the Cyberman moved so fast was so he could show off. And boy did he do a good job at it. Neil Gaiman, the writer adds great dialoge to the story. I especially liked the bit with. Kanny Comical Castle. The set design also did a great job. Did anyone else notice the collector had all the aliens from the Rings of Akhaten.

Now let's talk characters.

First let's talk about by far the best character in this story, The Doctor. Matt Smith does a great job as playing Mr Sweet and The Doctor and he's probably done almost as-well as he did in the rings of akhaten. Neil Gaiman so obviously wrote this for Matt Smith. Each scene you couldn't take your eyes away when your he was on screen.

Now let's talk about Angie. God I hate her. I don't blame Neil for this though, I blame Steven. It was Steven who created her and Neil couldn't change her. So she had to be wrote as some moody teenager. Who is just so rude and annoying. But in any episode she would be like that.

Now let's talk about Angie's brother. He was nice. Yeah not much else. But sometimes you don't need a complex character take Brian. He was nice. I quite like Artie. Is that his name? Anyway I'm sure he is relatable to the kids.

How about Clara. She kind of sucked. She came out as quite irritating and rude as commander. But she clearly wasn't meant to be the centre of the story. Which is fine because she did have some nice scenes.

Porridge. Ahhhh Porridge. Porridge is played by Warick Davis and he is so sweet. I felt so sad for him when he proposed to Clara. He was just really nice and had some great scenes.

So overall I loved this episode. There a few knitpicks but nothing too big. So I'm going to give this episode 9/10. Which means this is the best episode of the series so far! Bye.

Doctor Who Review The Crimson Horror

The Crimson Horror is by Mark Gatiss. So The Doctor is into lesbians. One for the dads? I thought this was a pretty safe episode. So let's talk about the plot. So you start off in Victorian Yorkshire as you can tell by the thing that says Yorkshire 18something. I preferred how Neil Cross HIDEs it more. Get it HIDE. I am hilarious. Anyway so EDMUND NOT EDMUND has been taken into some thing and Mrs Gillyflower, played by Diana Rigg, informs that EDMUND HAS DIED... So skipping a bit Jenny, Vastra and Strax are investigating and there is something in the room. It was so obviously The Doctor because they wouldn't reveal a big monster at the beginning instead they release it at the middle-ish. So The Doctor gets un-redded and pops out. He explains what happened in a nice way with a different type of camera style with pictures in between. This is a really nice and effective way of presenting something. You later find out Mr Sweet is a little red thing sucking on Diana Rigg's ... well anyway. I have a subscription for Doctor Who Adventures. They released the magazine early so it already showed Mr Sweet which I'm very angry about. But even with out knowing before hand the reveal of Mr Sweet doesn't really add much. Only if it was the GI. Actually where is the Great Intelligence. There going to be in the finale so why isn't there more of a build up. Mrs Gillyflower ends up releasing a rocket. Hang on a rocket. Mr Sweet is prehistoric not from the future. Where did they get the resources for the rocket? How does Diana know that Mr Sweet is called Mr Sweet? How could they of been able to create a rocket with out Mr Sweet being able to tell them? Then it goes and they do the most obvious thing of taking out the poison, which somehow Mrs Gillyflower knows is poison. Strax is on the roof and later on somehow gets down. Sorry nitpick. Clara goes back to modern day. She sees images from her past adventures in the past and sees an image of her in Victorian London. .......... . Also the two kids will be in the next episode. Yey. This part felt like it could be in another episode. It felt very forced build up to the next episode. WARICK DAVIS WILL BE IN THE NEXT EPISODE!!! All of this is a very simple set up but I don't think it worked.

Let's talk about characters. How about Ada. Wow what an amazing performance by Rachael Stirling. She came out as quite creepy and nice. She was really nice and I'm sure that a lot of people are going to complain about her killing her mum is out of character but I don't think so. Overall a nice character and her story was quite sad.

Now let's talk about Mrs Gillyflower. Really great acting by Diana Rigg and how she treats Rachael Stirling her own daughter, who is played by her daughter in real life, comes out as bitter and cold. I have one issue though. That is her motives. She doesn't have much of a reason why she is

She came out as just a 2 dimensional character. And a bad character can be saved by a good actor/actress. But Diana Rigg plays her as she is on script which is a real shame.

Now let's talk about Clara. She did nothing.

Now let's talk about Strax played by Dan Starkey. Now let me say that Dan Starkey may be my favourite actor. I say this as recently he did a Q&A as Strax in costume for Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff for some kids. Here is a link HERE. Now he is very funny and obviously devoted to the role. He clearly must of done his research. Also he is clearly having a ball of a time. In the episode he is just great and you can tell when he was in his armour Strax and Dan must of been having a great time. I loved at the end when he was wearing a top hat. Many people want a Jenny, Vastra Strax spin off on CBBC or something. I agree. But the only issue is when they run out of Strax jokes and start to become old.

Now let's talk about The Doctor. Matt Smith was as good as usual. But why is The Doctor so into Jenny. He ends up snogging Jenny. Luckily Jenny slaps The Doctor because she is married but the Doctor seems to completely forget about River. Infact it seems like the Doctor's and River relationship is just built on flirting.

Now lets talk about the guy who said, "The Crimson Horror" He just came out as creepy and 2 dimensional.

I had a few issues mainly in plot and motives . For example why was Clara in a glass jar? Why didn't the Doctor try to save the other people? Ext. But there were some great parts. Like as I mentioned before, the camera style and presentation of what happened to Clara and The Doctor. I also liked the scene when Mrs Gillyflower died. It felt very satisfying. I quite liked the fast pace but at times it was quite boring. I think I will give this episode a 7/10. Bye

Doctor Who Journey To The Centre of the TARDIS Review

Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS is by Steven Thompson who wrote the Curse of the Blackspot and boy it is similar.

Okay the idea is great but wasn't executed as well as it could of been.

The plot, well because of the ending there was no plot. But the basic plot is all over the place with sub plots. Like the guy taking the thing from the tree which went no where. The zombies, hang on. The zombies turned out to be them so why are they trying to kill the others. The ending was rushed and just bad. With the crack form series 5 just appearing to a reset button. Destroying any character or plot development.

Clara found out the Doctor's name which she forgot as the Doctor used a RESET BUTTON. The dialoge is all over the place like Clara saying "Is it because I'm a girl?". Where was that going.

The characters all come out as a right pain. If they were meant to be the villains then sure good job. But each gut apart form the android but not. Actually let's talk about him. He came out as really nice and I liked him but him turning out to be human added nothing to the plot. Anyway the other characters died from greed (karma) and becoming nice (karma?)

Overall there were some okay stuff in but many bad stuff. I think I will give this episode a 5/10

Hide

Hide was a bit meh. It seemed just like the Rings of Akhaten written also by Neil Cross. The ending felt rushed and confusing but it made more sense than the Rings of Akhaten. I liked how they straight into the action. But there were so many What! moments like the TARDIS talking to Clara.

Hang on there was an entire episode devoted to how that could never happen. The TARDIS even said I so don't try and tell me it wasn't. Why did the Doctor ask if the TARDIS said something mean to Clara? Has this guy seen Doctor Who? Neil Cross have you killed one of the best episodes of Doctor Who?

Neil: Yes I have as I want people to hate me hahahahahahaha.

Me: Go away.

Anyway where was I? Oh yes it also such a shame how they wasted the great visual. Like the things from the Rings of Akhaten and the Beast Below. Seriously it looked great but it was wasted. It did what they did in the Rings of Akhaten. Here is the scary monster but here is the even scarier monster. Except both times the even scarier monster looked stupid. The Doctor points out what type of story it is and then suddenly says oh no it's a love story. The episode didn't make sense. How come the TARDIS doesn't get destroyed when it goes into the other universe? Why are they talking about the gateway closing after an amount time when they're in a time machine? How did the woman write help on the wall if she's in the woods? Why am I knit picking? How could she communicate with the other 1974 woman? Why was it so rushed? Why where there no Ghostbusters references?

I think Emma should have died. Not in a mean way but it would of added so much more to the episode.
It just would maybe add the love story part I don't know just a random thought. I liked parts in the episode but on second viewings made no sense.

Anyway let's talk about the characters. They were all really forgettable I can't remember anybody's name. The relationship between the 1974 Call the Midwife woman and Alec I think he was called was plain and at the end forced. It was so obvious they would end up together. The other woman we knew nothing about and there weren't any clues to how we found out about her. Each character seems to be fine with the Doctor. Each character seems plain and simple. Yet I want to find out about each character only because it's annoying how poorly explained it was.

I think the first half was good with little dialog but I still understood what was going on. I found the second half meh and killed the mystery. I think this episode deserves a 4/10. This was identical to the Rings of Akhaten in the bad way. It will probably be another fan splitter. Bye.

Cold War was a great episode.

Ice Warriors

The Ice Warrior, from the outside, looked amazing. It wasn't like the Silurian return and they looked nothing like the original. The Ice Warrior reminded me of the original and it looked good. I came in on 9th so I know that the Ice Warriors exists and how they look like but not much else. It was good how they explained the Ice Warriors for the modern fans and didn't treat it like we're idiots. Which is always good.

Characters

Clara

Clara was actually really good in this. But it seemed like she needed the Doctor to tell her she did well.
Clara seemed like a relatable character and I would feel a bit guilty.

The Doctor 

The Doctor was good as usual and didn't do anything out of character. I can't really say much about his character in this episode.

The Professor

The Professor was a kind guy but he was quite unexplained. Good acting by whoever played him.

Random Thoughts

. I love how in the first ten seconds the Ice Warrior is owning everybody.

. Hilarious when the Doctor isn't in Las Vages

. The second guy who got killed seemed nice.

. Really sad when that nice guy died.

Conclusion

A fast pace, brilliant episode. It was a shame how they changed the inside of the Ice Warriors. I think this episode was really good and I would watch it again.
I am going to give this episode 8/10.

The Rings of Akhaten

The Rings of Akhaten will be my first, I think proper review. So the episode starts off in 1981, we saw the Doctor reading Beano 1981, and basically see the story of Clara's parents, mainly the mum. The find out that the leaf is the parents. Also the Doctor is spying on her all her life!
The Doctor is the creepiest main character.
Anyway the Doctor and Clara end up in some alien place with what I believe to be the worst looking aliens I've ever seen. They remind me of the aliens from the space pub in The End of Time Part 2. Come on I'm sure you could do better costume design. You find out that the planet has a currency of something that has value to the buyer. This makes no sense how could you trade that for something else.  Forgery seems easy. I would be fine if they converted it into how much it ment to you but they don't. The Doctor goes off somewhere.

Hang on where did the Doctor go. He didn't go to get something valuable to him. Also the screwdriver is easily replaceable meaning it probably has no value. So the Doctor left so...
Ahh! So Clara can talk to the girl so we can see why you should like Clara and to find out what was going on to the little girl. But how are we meant to like Clara if she says lines like this:
"I don't think it likes me!"
Just to give you a bit of knowledge of when she said that. It was when she couldn't get into the Tardis.
2 things.
1. She's an idiot for saying that.
2. Maybe the Tardis has a reason for not liking you. SHE IS A SHE! NOT AN IT!
The Doctor returns not explaining what he did.

The plot I didn't understand. Could somebody please explain this to me. What was the point of the guards who lets face are just things that can breath exspelliarmus out of their mouths. Has the Doctor now forgotten about the Time War seeing how that's part of his soul. Hang on last episode people's souls were taken and in this episode the definition of soul has changed! What? Since when did the girl have powers? What was the point of the people who wore a red cloak thing? Why did the Doctor not use his flying motorbike? Why weren't the aliens speech translated? These all probably could of been sorted if it was a 2 parter or even an hour long.

I liked how it was solved. I loved Matt Smith acting when he was talking to "God".
What the hell?
How Matt was crying when he was talking about the time war I was for almost in tears. I don't know why but I find that really touching to my inner Whovian.

There are some really funny bits in. Not the Doctor meeting the aliens. No! But when they play it straight for example. When the guy was singing to keep the guy asleep and the Doctor is telling him that it's useless and the guy slowly stops. That is comedy. But nobody else seemed to laugh.
I also loved the bit where everyone is singing and the Doctor tries to sing along but the Doctor doesn't know the lyrics. This was really funny. It seemed like this scene was intended for children who don't know the words in some sort of religious place, which happened to me a lot. I also really liked how the sonic screwdriver was a SONIC screwdriver.

Now let's talk about the characters. First the Doctor. The Doctor is great in this episode. But I don't understand why he didn't sacrifice something of his. Matt Smith was amazing near the end though and really sold what this scene was trying to reach. Clara seemed like a caring person and I quite liked the scene when she was saying why she was helping the girl. It was really sad when she sacrificed something that meant so much to her. The little girl I found on script to be a pain. I say this as when she was talking to Clara being surprised that she didn't know her. That's what somebody who is a royal pain would say. But the actress who played her really made sure this didn't happen. I found her a believable character and she was a really good child actress.

Now let's talk about the aliens. I've already talked about how bad the minor aliens were so lets talk about the main ones. The guards looked really good visually and it was such a shame that they were useless against a sonic screwdriver. The alien in the glass looked really good and seemed actually the most threatening.

Despite it's flaws this was a very entertaining and emotional story. Also a round of applause for that set! Neil Cross, who wrote this, did pretty well for a first timer. I don't know if this was me or a lack of information but I didn't understand what was going on. Somebody please tell me what happened.
I am going to give this episode a 5/10 as it didn't seem like there was much in stake and wasn't completely explained. I think the rest of the episode was really good and well presented.

The Bells of Saint John

Really good. Although the Doctor clearly wants to do it with Clara. A really good idea and very fast moving. But it didn't seem rushed as in it was all explained and you understood everything. But what the hell happened at the end. I really like the idea of the wi-fi taking people over. The screen reminded me of the Idiots Lantern. Who was the woman in the shop. It was quite funny when the kid is almost talking about if you should prefere 10 or 11. The Great Intelligence was in it AGAIN! Also why is Richard E Grant the new face of The Great Intelligence. Also is this going to be the theme of the series or be a lazy motive or both. I hated the scene when the Doctor asked Clara to ask him Doctor Who. Also did anyone notice Amy wrote the book. My friend was laughing when it turned out Miss Kizlet was a little girl. I found that really sad as she was effected. Also the resolution didn't end with "and everything was back to normal" Miss Kizlet changed and the relationship between Clara and the Doctor became more sexuel. Oh yeah, U.N.I.T! ( I want U.N.I.T to be in capitals but it already is). Oh yeah those screens were ment to hold everybody almost everywhere and it was hardly a lot. Also since when did the Doctor control people. Is the motorbike a modern version of the Whomobile ,Agghh!? I love how every little detail is important. The Spoonheads ,hahaha sorry I'm laugh typing, were really good but the turning of the head reminds me of the Smilers. A really good episode but actually I can't think of any issues, yet. Bye.

The Snowmen

The Snowmen was a great episode especially for Steven Moffat. I love the idea of the memory ice and how it mimics what you say. The whole Clara Oswin thing is really interesting and shouts Steven Moffat. I noticed that Clara was born on November 23rd the date Doctor Who started. I loved the title sequence it is so much like classic Doctor Who. I love the TARDIS it's so much like the old one. I love Strax he is very funny. Also I loved when Clara said it's smaller on the outside. Clara may be a Time Lord like Romana, an old Doctor Who companion who was a Timelord, as she regenerated back to her old version. Next of series 7 looks great. I loved it when The Doctor aid it's taller on the outside or something like that. I like how diverse it is having a gay couple. Not related but I learnt every Doctor Who companion ever and I'll teach you how to learn it. Bye.

The Angels Take Manhattan

Well done Steven Moffat. I miss Amy and  Rory A good weeping angel episode and it made sense. I    felt like crying when Rory was on the roof. I found it so sad when  Rory got touched by an angel. I found it good that they made sure Rory new to the weeping angels. But more people should be looking at the Statue of Liberty. Also since when did  angels turn statues to angels. All in all both my hearts broke. Bye.

The Power of Three

An okay episode and Brian was funny. I didn't like how they're making it more clear Amy and Rory are leaving but I do want to find out what Matt Smith is like without Amy and Rory Although I think the best combo of 3 on Doctor Who is The 3rd Doctor,Sarah and Brigadier. I liked Brigadier's daugter and how U.N.I.T was sciency but I just love old U.N.I.T. I liked how Brian called U.N.I.T with each letter. The Shakri was a bad looking alien. Also so far every Time Lord myth or legend is real. The other hoover aliens looked stupid. All in all Dinosaurs on a Spaceship standard. Bye.

A Town Called Mercy

A good episode by Toby Whithouse. Although I didn't like how The Doctor nearly killed Kahler-Jex. I did like the not obviousness of the solution. I liked how everything unravelled. All in all it was a risky but good episode. Bye.  

Dinosaurs on a Spaceship

A clear series 4 Tardis with no sign.

An alright episode. Not that good and over dinosaury. Also every series since series 5 has has Silurians in it. Although I did like how the spaceship was like with a fake beach and how Amy got quick on working out it was a Silurian spaceship. I liked Rory's dad in how he was confused the whole time. I liked the robots played by David Mitchell and Robert Webb, they were quite funny. Also I found a mistake on the Siluria  postcard.
1. Since when was Siluria home planet of the Silurians.
2. No St.John Almanic sign on the Tardis
All in all not so great. Bye.

The Asylum of the Daleks

It was good but not so Daleky also I was confused about Jenna Coleman new Companion being a Dalek and how she's going to be a Companion. It don't like the human Dalek thing. What was with the new opening thing. I was so sad on pond life (mini web show) when Amy and Rory had an argument. I found it funny when Oswin/Dalek said why do they hate you in a Dalek voice. Overall good but not as expected. Bye.

The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe

I know. But it makes no sense how the plane survived in the Time Vortex. How did Madge work out how to drive the Androzani Harvester seeing how it has nothing to do with planes. The Harvest Rangers are so cool.

The wood aliens are a bit rubbish. All in all it was okay. But I love how Amy and Rory have a blue house.

The Wedding of River Song

Steven Moffat you did it again. But how did the robot regenerate? I like how the trained soldiers shoot Silence and fail but Amy with her trusty machine gun that she got out from somewhere can kill some Silence. I like how much they like to kill Rory. I think the eye patches are a Doctor Who trend. The cheesy question is Doctor Who? I like the celebration that Amy and River make.

Closing Time

Well done Gareth Roberts. Only the ending was good. I found it stupid how the Cybermen got beaten by love. The notes were clever. I knew that River was the astronaut. Amy's famous The Girl Who Was Tired of Waiting. I still find it weird how Rory died his hair. The Cybercontroller was quite cool. The Cybercontroller was first formed as John Lumic. The Cybermat has lovely teeth may need to floss. So excited about the next episode. Bye. 

The God Complex

By Toby Whithouse the same writer as Vampire's of Venice. A good episode but Amy, what it's the 11th episode. Craigs in the next episode and Cybermen. Don't believe was the moral of the story was have no faith. Amy, left with Rory. So Rory has died, died, wiped out of existence, died in mind, wiped out of Doctor Who. Amy has taken over by prisoner zero, turned in to a doll, got taken over by praising and left Doctor Who. The Doctor has died, died, died, died, died, died, died, died, died, died, died, 1103 version died very simple. David Walliams was good. He was cat, weird. I like the pictures of the Silurians and stuff. Praise Him. Bye. 

The Girl Who Waited

Written by Tom MacRae. A good episode based in
Appleapachia but it would of made more sense if they had eyes. I like the Rory pet. Weird glasses, how do you turn it on? The Green Anchor and Red Waterfall was quite cool. It took ages to do.  The graphics were very different to Steven Moffat. It was all filmed in The Wales Millennium Centre. Bye.

Night Terrors

All in all a pretty good episode. When will the Dad or Alex tell the Mum that he's an alien. When I saw the the monsters. The Dolls were a good idea. I feel sad for the landlord . The Doll House was quite obvious. All George said was save me from the monsters. Marcus Wilson was a good actor. Also that's the second person that got sucked into a bin. The old lady, Mickey, maybe parellel world Mickey and old lady. Just to warn you it's not madly an important episode for this series as it's not written by Steven Moffat. Slowly rock slowly rocks tick tock goes the clock even for The Doctor, is the rhyme they sing. Bye.
